Description
In Greater Manchester we are developing a transport system for the future, connecting people and places to unlock employment, education, leisure and cultural opportunities for residents and businesses, supporting economic growth and enabling us to reach our ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2038. We are investing in sustainable and active travel options that empower communities to rethink their transport decisions, delivering significant investment in our infrastructure, revolutionising how people access public transport across our city region.
In delivering our ambitious goals and ambitions, health and safety continues to be at the core of how we operate, as is our commitment to delivering our environmental obligations and commitments, including our Bee Network Safety Plan and Vision Zero objectives. We are seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Director who will transform our approach across the organisation and working with our transport Operators, shifting culture from one which is compliance focused to a place where health and safety is inherent in everything we do and how we operate. Working across the organisation, with external stakeholders and delivery partners, you will have the ability to influence at all levels, building an approach that focuses on delivering for our customers, keeping them safe and ensuring that all those working for or with TfGM are equally safe. We have ambitious plans to decarbonise our operations, including significant investment in our fleet and infrastructure, and, working across the senior leadership team, you will drive the delivery of our ambitions.
As an experienced health and safety leader, you will bring a track record of delivering services and operations that are compliant, with strong assurance processes in place. However, success in this role will stem from the successful candidates ability to influence across a broad stakeholder and partnership group, creating a culture where heath, safety and environmental considerations are inherent in everything we do. Continuous improvement is crucial to our success, leading programmes all parts of the business, being abreast of emerging risks and legislative changes and ensuring that organisationally we respond to the demands that they present. Most importantly, you will bring passion for delivering for our customers, recognising the role that a safe and environmentally efficient public transport system has in unlocking the power of our city region.
