Description
In Greater Manchester we are developing a transport system for the future, connecting people and places to unlock employment, education, leisure and cultural opportunities for residents and businesses, supporting economic growth and enabling us to reach our ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2038. We are investing in sustainable and active travel options that empower communities to rethink their transport decisions, delivering significant investment in our infrastructure, revolutionising how people access public transport across our city region.
At the heart of our transport strategy is an ambitious £multi-billion investment in infrastructure, one of the biggest in any city region, which will be at the heart of unlocking the power of Greater Manchester. You will lead exciting portfolios including the delivery of new trams and tram lines, infrastructure renewal, transport hubs and interchanges, highways schemes including active travel and bus priority as well as electrifying the entire bus fleet in Greater Manchester. As Infrastructure Delivery Director, you will work across a range of stakeholders, including our constituent local authorities, Department for Transport, Highways England and our private sector delivery partners. We are implementing new technology in tram-trains to extend our network and fully electrifying the bus fleet to create a public transport network that residents can be proud of, but most important that enables them to access the full potential of our region.
We are seeking an ambitious leader who brings a significant track record of infrastructure delivery, either in transport or related sectors. Managing multiple projects will be crucial, whilst continually developing a pipeline of new schemes and programmes. Working across a broad stakeholder environment, you will lead partners regionally, developing relationships with key agencies, infrastructure developers and our constituent local authorities to ensure we deliver for our residents. Most importantly we are looking for someone with the passion for delivery, who has the vision to realise the impact that new infrastructure and improved public transport can have on region.
